About Me

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience. I am Chartered by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered member of the Health Professions Council (HCPC).

I work with young people aged 12-18 and their families.  I also work with adults.

During my NHS career I have specialised in therapeutic work with people who struggle with complex difficulties, including self-harm, depression, stress and anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, problems with overwhelming emotions and difficulties in relationships. I have worked with many people with co-occurring autism and mental health difficulties and my work includes post diagnostic support.

However I am open to working with any emotional or behavioural problems which are getting in the way of someone doing the things they want to in life. Mental health difficulties can have a profoundly disruptive effect on relationships, achievements in school or work, and can prevent people from doing things they enjoy or are interested in. Therapy can offer an opportunity to get back on track in each of these areas of life.

I am trained in several Psychological Models including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (tf-CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT). I apply these models flexibly and collaboratively and my practice is based on finding the approach that best fits the needs of each individual or family and tailoring this towards achieving their goals. In doing this, I draw on other approaches such as Mindfulness, and Systemic Theory.
